Mr. Hardin's son, about sixteen years of age, left their home and was 
              hunting beeves on the divide between Indian Creek and the Middle Verde, 
              perhaps, in the northern part of Medina County or in Bandera and was 
              killed by the Indians. When night came and he failed to return, a searching 
              party was sent out and the young man found murdered and scalped in the 
            Middle Verde.
