In 1732 Bustillo y Zevallos met an army consisting of several hundred Apache warriors on the San Saba River. In a five-hour battle, two hundred Indians were killed and thirty women and children captured. Seven hundred horses and mules were taken, along with over a hundred mule-loads of cartage.
