During the early days, Clay County was noted for its ranches, and several of her ranchmen forfeited their lives in the hands of the Indians, while pursuing their chosen profession. During December 1865, Tom Norris was killed by the Indians on the old Dumas Ranch, south of the present city of Henrietta. Ref: W.A.
