Jno. Curtis, a Negro slave of Joe Curtis, was returning from Picketville, and was mortally wounded by several Indians, at a point a few miles north of the present city of Breckenridge. The Negro's leg was amputated, but this did not save him, for he died in a short time. Joe Curtis then lived in Miller's Valley, on the Clear Fork. Note: Author personally interviewed Jno.
