Broken Bow is located in southeastern Oklahoma in McCurtain County along U.S. Highway 70/259 south of Broken Bow Lake and the Ouachita National Forest. Recreational opportunities include 3,500-acre Beavers Bend State Park, Hochatown State Park, Pine Creek Lake and Little River National Wildlife Refuge. Area attractions include 18-hole Cedar Creek Golf Course, Lakeview Lodge, the 26-mile David L. Boren Trail, the Forest Heritage Center, the Gardner Mansion & Museum (home of Choctaw chief Jefferson Gardner--c. 1880) and a 2,000-year-old bald cypress tree that marked the end of the Trail of Tears for the Choctaw. |
